Harts Group celebrates 10 years since Barrafina Adelaide Street first opened
Barrafina Adelaide Street, the critically acclaimed modern Spanish tapas restaurant from Harts Group, will celebrate its 10-year anniversary this July.
On Friday, 5th July 2024, Sam Hart, founder of Barrafina, will resume his original position behind a tapas bar for one lunch service only to mark the occasion. Accompanying Sam is Barrafina’s Operations Director Aurelija Sovaite alongside Barrafina and Parrillan Coal Drops Yard General Manager Virginia Piqueras. Aurelija and Virginia have been part of Barrafina for over a decade, opening Adelaide St in 2014 and heading up the front of house teams where the waiters and chefs work side by side to deliver the authentic and award-winning Spanish tapas experience that the restaurants have become famous for.
Sam Hart comments: “Since opening a decade ago in this vibrant corner of Covent Garden, we have been very fortunate for the continued support of so many of our wonderful customers at Barrafina Adelaide Street. We can’t wait to share this exciting milestone with our guests, so we plan to celebrate with a selection of favourites from our opening menu served by some of the original team members who have been with us since we first opened our doors, on this day ten years ago.”
The daily specials menu for that Friday’s lunch and dinner services, available until Sunday, 14th July, will see the return of signature dishes from the original a la carte menu, including calves’ brains; crab croquetas; bocadillo de calamar; prawn & bonito carpaccio; tempura oyster, lime & chilli; and yellow chicory, Don Bocarte anchovies & salmorejo.
Overseeing the kitchen operation on the day will be Executive Chef Antonio Gonzalez Milla, whom many Adelaide St regulars will recognise, along with Head Chef Ignacio Garcia and Executive Chef Francisco Jose Torrico, who joined Barrafina in 2015 and has previously also worked as Head Chef at Adelaide St.
The corner site comprises one long marble-topped bar, wrap around windows, 29 red leather high stools, a state-of-the-art open kitchen and private dining space for up to 30 guests. In 2015, Barrafina Adelaide St was awarded the Evening Standard Best New London Restaurant Award, followed by the Observer Food Monthly’s Restaurant of the Year and Time Out’s Best Restaurant in London in 2016.
Barrafina Adelaide Street will celebrate ten years on Friday, 5th July with a specials menu of signature dishes from the original 2014 menu, available until Sunday, 14th July.
