El Pastor announces new international guest chef series, EP + Amigos
El Pastor, the London-based group of transportive Mexican restaurants, is launching ‘EP + Amigos’, a new international guest chef series in partnership with Tequila Herradura. The events will see the EP locations welcome three of Mexico’s most celebrated and exciting chefs to the UK’s capital.
El Pastor’s co-founder, Crispin Somerville, lived in Mexico City for a decade, running cult nightclub El Colmillo with his co-founder, Sam Hart in the ‘90s and ‘00s. During this time, he made lasting friendships on the food scene, including the founder of World 50 Best’s no.13 restaurant (Pujol), Enrique Olvera, who was back then a regular raver at El Colmillo, and Elena Reygadas, who was named The World’s Best Female Chef 2023. Elena opened a restaurant with Crispin, Prima, in Mexico City back in 2001, before she briefly moved to London and lived in Crispin’s flat for a time.
Over one of his many visits to Mexico since moving back to London, Crispin visited Giuseppe Lacorazza’s Fugaz in Roma Norte, a laid-back restaurant, of which the Michelin Guide said ‘the low-key vibe… belies some very serious and creative cuisine.’ He loved it, returned multiple times – including once with a number of the El Pastor team on a research trip- and bonded with Giuseppe over a shared obsession with ingredients and dining.
Over three dates in 2025, these chefs will each cook a one-night only feast, indicative of their style of Mexican cooking, each at a different El Pastor site.
Fugaz’s Giuseppe Lacorazza will take to the stoves of the original El Pastor, on Stoney Street in London Bridge, on the evening of Thursday 22nd May.
Enrique Olvera, whose 11 strong restaurant collective includes Pujol in Mexico City, Criollo in Oaxaca, Cosme in New York and Los Angeles’ Damian, will cook at El Pastor Battersea on Wednesday 18th June.
Elena Reygadas, whose six restaurants and bakeries include Rosetta and Panadería Rosetta, will take over El Pastor Soho on Thursday 4th September.
Each chef will cook a four-course set menu, with a bite, a taco course, a sharing dish and a pudding. Tickets will include a welcome cocktail, courtesy of Herradura.
EP + Amigos: Fugaz is available to book now for £50 per person. Giuseppe Lacorazza’s menu will make use of the excellent British seasonal ingredients at our fingertips and will include: Fugaz’s signature avocado tostada, a seafood platter, a sharer of market fish served with tortillas, plenty of toppings and salsas, and a seasonal dessert.
